Trace heating is performed by either using constant wattage heating cable or self regulating heating cable. Self regulating heating cable will alter it’s heat output as the temperature rises until it reaches its maximum temperature. Constant wattage heating cable requires a thermostat to control its heat output. Both can be simply cut to the required length on site.
